I've always assumed that Tihocan was the one responsible for building the Greek empire. Since we're talking about Greece, let's focus on the events of TR1. History was different in the Tomb Raider universe than the real world. but, hey, please don't be so mean, it's just my opinion I'm looking forward to hear your thoughts about this, thoughĪnother possible explanation is that the Tomb Raider producers put their own twists on certain historical events and legends. OK, I know that some harsh criticism might come along. Well, I know that ''The Cistern'' and ''Tomb Of Tihocan'' were actually stages that resembled very much one another.but, hey, a nice idea could have been to change the ''Tomb Of Tihocan'' into.well, I don't know, an inner temple or something (for example, something like the Greek area of ''Style Units'' mixed with puzzles, traps and the final Centaur battle might have been a great idea).Just, DON'T REDUCE THE NUMBER OF STAGES What is rather irritating, though, it's that since its original release, there have been many later versions produced, and, still, the problem wasn't fixed in any of them.ģ)The Greece chapter is the only one, where the number of levels, comparing to TR1, has been reduced. I know this is to pay homage to the first game, but, hey, since you changed some stuff, also change the names to be more appropriate for a Greek chapter.Ģ)As I have mentioned in another thread, the Greek levels are the only ones, where the ''mission introduction'' theme doesn't play at the start of each level (well, apart from some versions, where this music plays only at ''St Francis Folly''). Now, for the ''negative'' part.ġ)The ''problematic'' areas from the TR1 are also here (St Francis Folly, Coliseum). Some things have luckily changed. The architecture and the puzzles truly make you think you are in an ancient Greek complex, the location statistics show that you are in Greece and the rooms' names have been changed to resemble more the Greek equivalents (Poseidon, Hephaestus etc). THOR? What does this have to do with Greek mythology?) Not to mention the name of the rooms in St Francis Folly. What does a monastery built by an Italian catholic monk have to do in Greece? Also, what does COLOSSEUM have to do in Greece? (Even the directors mention it in Anniversary.) And, yes, I know that it's not actually the Colosseum, but an amphitheatre.but, the name Coliseum, actually reminds us of the Italian equivalent. So, I'm pretty sure that anyone who didn't see the > interviews back then couldn't imagine that we are in Greece, unti they reached ''Midas's palace'' (Midas's palace actually was in Turkey.but, it's a greek myth, so I'm ok with it). Let's begin with TR1.Īs some other Non-Greek users have mentioned, the lack of mythology/history care here is profound. OK, I know that I will probably sound like a crazy ethnicist or something now But there is something about the first Tomb Raider and its remake, Tomb Raider Anniversary (to a lesser extent though) that rather 'bugs' me.
